At St Mary’s, we believe that learning outside of the classroom is very important. Children have many different styles of learning and traditional classroom learning does not suit everyone. Even though field trips are part of the school day and linked to the curriculum, because they are in a different setting, there is a greater sense of adventure and freedom to explore, for children to think for themselves and make connections to what they have learnt in the classroom. They give children a new perspective and understanding of their own potential to learn and discover, making them more motivated when they get back to school.
